On July 23, 2026, the Database Center for North Korean Human Rights (NKDB) held its fall NKDB Human Rights Scholarship Awards Ceremony. The event opened with remarks from Young Shin Jung, Secretary of the Scholarship Committee, followed by a congratulatory address from Jae-hwa Lee, Chair of the Scholarship Committee.
This term’s scholarship recipients are three North Korean human rights activists and three researchers currently working at NKDB. In total, the six individuals received scholarships amounting to 11,500,000 KRW.
This term’s scholars have been working for North Korean human rights throughout their careers. They were chosen based on their commitment to using their studies to improve the human rights situation in North Korea.
