On July 1, NKDB participated in a delegation of civil society organizations that briefed member states ahead of the DPRK's Universal Periodic Review (UPR).

NKDB's Executive Director, Hanna Song, presented the individual submission NKDB made in April, which focused on the human rights of vulnerable groups, including women, children, and persons with disabilities. She also discussed strategic ways for member states to engage with the DPRK during the UPR.

Human Rights Analyst, Unique Kim, presented NKDB's joint submission with FIDH, highlighting issues related to civil and political rights in the DPRK, with a particular emphasis on changes in laws over the past three years.

Additionally, NKDB curated customized factsheets for each member state, detailing how the DPRK has responded to the recommendations they have made over the past three UPR cycles.

NKDB extends its gratitude to the OHCHR Seoul office for hosting this important discussion and for inviting us to participate in the event.
