After 555 days of heartfelt engagement, NKDB officially closed its North Korean Human Rights Museum on May 23, 2025. Since then, the team has successfully completed its relocation and is now fully settled into a new office space.
The museum, located in Gyeonghuigung-gil (Jongno-gu, Seoul), welcomed more than 2,500 visitors since November 2023. Over the course of 18 months, it served as a powerful space to amplify the voices of North Korean human rights victims through testimonies, art, and public education.
However, amid growing financial constraints affecting the North Korean human rights sector, it became increasingly difficult for NKDB to maintain the museum at its previous location. After careful consideration, the decision was made to close the exhibition and focus resources on expanding outreach through other formats.
One month on, the NKDB team is now fully operational in its new location. While the museum space has closed, our commitment to public engagement continues. Educational programs, exhibitions, and testimony-sharing initiatives will resume in new forms.
Thank You for Walking With Us
We are deeply grateful to everyone who supported the museum and its mission, whether by visiting, donating, or helping us spread the word. As we begin this new chapter, your continued support means more than ever.
