NKDB has published its 2024 Activity Report, offering a comprehensive look back at a year of work dedicated to documenting violations, supporting victims, and promoting accountability for human rights abuses in North Korea.
The report highlights NKDB’s five key areas of action during this year :
1/ Truth-Seeking: Publication of the White Paper on Human Rights in North Korea resumed after a four-year hiatus.
2/ Accountability : Legal justice advanced with a landmark first-instance ruling in the repatriated Zainichi escapees against North Korea.
3/ Systemic Reform: NKDB provided customized fact sheets to 111 UN member states ahead of the DPRK’s UPR, encouraging strong and actionable recommendations.
4/ Victim Recovery: Psychological support, home-visits, autobiographical storybooks, and the opening of a dedicated zone for Prisoners of War (POWs) marked meaningful steps in the healing process of victims.
5/ Reconciliation and Integration: 236 people joined NKDB’s Human Rights Academy, and more than 2,200 visitors explored NKDB’s “The Echo Never Stops Exhibition”.
