From April 7 to 26, NKDB held a special exhibition titled “The Echo Never Stops” at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), in collaboration with the Institute for Korean Studies (IKSU).

The exhibition invited visitors to explore what everyday life looks like in North Korea, where communication with the outside world is strictly limited and freedom of expression heavily suppressed. Through testimonies, visual materials, and real stories shared by North Korean escapees, the exhibition shed light on a reality often overlooked.

Throughout the week, the exhibition drew a steady stream of visitors who engaged deeply with the personal stories, testimonies, and visual materials on display.

By amplifying the voices of North Korean escapees and highlighting traces of foreign information that circulate within the country, The Echo Never Stops encouraged critical reflection on the power of free expression and the consequences of its absence. The exhibition also aimed to strengthen international solidarity, particularly among younger generations, in the global effort to improve human rights in North Korea.

We extend our sincere thanks to UCLan and the Institute for Korean Studies for their generous support and warm welcome.

NKDB will continue to bring North Korean voices to light and create spaces for dialogue and awareness around the world.
