On January 26, 2024, members of the U.S. Congressional-Executive Commission on China (CECC) visited NKDB. Discussions between CECC members and NKDB focused on the plight of North Korean refugees and the working conditions of North Korean laborers within China. NKDB briefed CECC on findings from ongoing investigations into forced repatriation and exploitation of workers, also discussing international strategies to halt such practices. Subsequently, CECC members were introduced to the shadowy world of the North Korean Human Rights Museum through the exhibition 'The Echo Never Stops,' providing an opportunity to share stories about freedom of expression in North Korea. This meeting was a valuable time to exchange new insights and discuss strategies for improving human rights for North Korean residents within China.
