On September 26, an overview of NKDB’s 2017 White Paper on North Korean Human Rights was presented at NKDB's 43rd Monthly Briefing and Discussion. We spoke at length about the new facts, figures, and trends in North Korean human rights that we have included in our 2017 White Paper. The purpose of our annual White Papers is to continuously amass information on human rights violations in North Korea. By publishing our findings, NKDB seeks to not only increase public awareness of the situation of the North Korean people, but we also seek to raise the voices of the North Korean defectors whose human rights had been violated. In the 2017 White Paper, we have included three additional topics on narcotic drugs, overseas labourers and humanitarian aid in North Korea to provide further, more comprehensive information for our readers.

Participants of the briefing included representatives from embassies and delegations in Seoul, including those from Norway, the US, Singapore, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Sweden, El Salvador, and Finland. Representations from international organizations, including NDI and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, were also in attendance. We thank all those who participated!
