On May 27, 2014, the 12th NKDB Monthly Briefing and Discussion was held under the topic of "abductees to North Korea". The speaker, Chung Jai-ho, the head of Resettlement Assistance Headquarters for POWs and Abductees, covered abductees’ current status and issues of prisoners of war (POWs), wartime abductees, and postwar abductees. Through the briefing and discussion--moderated by former EU ambassador Lee Jaechun-- foreign diplomats and human rights organization members were given opportunities to think and discuss ways to respond to this issue such as calling for repatriation of the abductees and prevention of further abductions, and future directions the international community should take.
