On October 25, 2016, NKDB had the 34th briefing on political prison camps, based on our publication 'North Korean Political Prison Camps – a catalogue of political prison camp staff, detainees, and victims of enforced disappearance'. The book includes not only the cases of human rights violations in political prison camps reported in NKDB’s database, but also contains information retrieved through surveys with 1,000 defectors and 100 in-depths interviewees that have witnessed or particularly heard about political prison camps. The report also includes enforced disappearances as NKDB believes that victims of such violations are eventually sent to political prison camps.

After a presentation by NKDB researcher Teodora, participants were able to have a deep discussion on issues of human rights violations in political prison camps. Representatives from the UN OHCHR Office in Seoul, the Canadian, Finnish and Norwegian Embassy were present.
