On March 28th, NKDB held its 38th Monthly Briefing and Discussion on North Korean Human Rights on the topic of Social Integration. The presentation was based on NKDB's '2016 Trends in Economic Activities of North Korean Defectors' report that was published early this year. The presentation was followed by a testimony by a Mrs. Sunkyeong Kim, a Unification Consultant at Seoul Gayang Elementary School and North Korean defector. She spoke about her own personal experiences as a North Korean defector resettling into South Korean society as well as the difficulties that her own defector students face.

The briefing was attended by representatives from the Norwegian embassy, the Italian embassy, the Swedish embassy, the Finnish embassy, the Australian embassy, the Polish embassy, the Colombian embassy, the US embassy as well as participants from Wall Street Journal, Liberty in North Korea, Daily NK, and Frierich Naumann Foundation for Freedom Korea.

We were excited to host the first briefing at our new office and look forward to many more in the future!
