[General]Joint submission to the UN Human Rights Committee

On January 4, 2021 NKDB and FIDH (International Federation for Human Rights) made a joint submission to the UN Human Rights Committee for the adoption of the List of Issues for North Korea with regards to their obligations under their ratification of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR)

The submission covered 17 areas of concern in the following areas:

-  Right to life.
-  Right to liberty.
-  Prohibition of torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
-  Forced labor.
-  Detention conditions.
-  Right to freedom of movement.
-  Right to a fair trial.
-  Right to freedom of religion or belief.
-  Right to freedom of opinion and expression.
-  Discrimination based on family background

The LoI for North Korea will be adopted during the CCPR’s 131st session, which is set to be held from 1 to 26 March 2021 in Geneva, Switzerland.
