On September 26, Professor Kim, from Hanyang University’s Division of International Studies, brought his Capstone Special Lecture students to NKDB to participate in our roundtable discussion. Because of the diverse perspectives and experiences that each student had, we were able to have a robust conversation about a variety of topics concerning human rights in North Korea. We spoke of the challenges defectors face as they leave North Korea, the role of South Korean NGOs in working to improve the North Korean human rights situation, NKDB’s fundraising efforts, and more. We had a truly dynamic dialogue with this wonderful group.
NKDB engages with international students from different age groups and has hosted a number of educational events for high school and university students from countries all over the world. Our goal is to engage young people in the discussion on North Korean human rights, offer them the basic knowledge that they need in order to find their own way of helping the people in North Korea.
