NKDB held its seminar celebrating the 10th anniversary of the publication of the White Paper on North Korean Human Rights.
The seminar started with an opening remark by our new Chairman of the board, Jai Chun Lee, followed by some inspiring congatulatory addresses from Kim Suk Woo (National Development Institute, former deputy Unification Minister), Son Kwang Ju (Chairman of the Korea Hana Foundation), Choi Sung Yong (Representative of the Abductees Family Union), Kim Sung Nam (Ewha Womans University, PhD candidate) and Shin Hyun Sik (President of the NKDBs Donors Association). The first session of the seminar then included NKDB's Soon-hee Lim who spoke about the current state of human rights in North Korea and recent developments as well as the 2016 White Paper.
This was followed by session 2, where Chief Director of NKHRA, Yeo-sang Yoon, presented on NKDB's vision for the next 10 years. Through the seminar we were able to not only look back on the past ten years of recording cases into our database, but also share with you our vision for the next decade- a journey we hope you will join us in!
