Time for a #flashbackfriday!

During NKDB's trip to the Netherlands for the seminar on Overseas Labourers with the LeidenAsiaCentre, NKDB was able to meet up with many groups and organisations in the Netherlands. On May 23rd, the NKDB team gave a talk and held a discussion with some students at University College Utrecht in the Netherlands on North Korean human rights and the future of North Korea.

At NKDB we believe in the raising the voices of the North Korean people through archival records and research. Fighting for North Korean human rights is a long, long battle and meetings with young students, the leaders of tomorrow, are great sources of encouragement for the long path ahead.

"With all the hectic events taking place around the world, we in the western world often 'forget' about North Korea. In a way we take the situation there as given, with no hopes or expectations of it ever changing. Having the NKDB team speak about their work was truly an eye opener. Many students in the audience appreciated being able to have a rational account of the conflict and personalised answers to their specific questions thanks to Dr. Yeosang Yoon. In addition it was inspiring for us to discover the work of the NKDB that clearly demonstrated that even-though it may take a long time, there is hope for North Korea and that we can personally get involved in making sure that when the time comes the appropriate people will get punished"
