On January 16th, an intersessional meeting on Human Rights and the 2030 Agenda: Empowering people and ensuring inclusiveness and equality, is to take place in Geneva. The meeting will provide an opportunity for States, human rights organizations, UN agencies, and civil society organizations to share their good practices and lessons from their experience in promoting human rights and implementing the SDGs. This meeting aims to enhance understanding and strengthen cooperation between organizations specialized in human rights and SDGs.

The meeting will review global progress on the following SDGs: SDG 4 (Quality education), SDG 8 (Decent work and economic growth), SDG 10 (Reduced inequalities), SDG 13 (Climate change), SDG 16 (Peace, justice and strong institutions). Let’s see how North Korea has been progressing towards the SDGs above on the SDG Index and Dashboards.

NKDB has also been working to provide such opportunities for cooperation by hosting a conference on Strategies for Improving Human Rights in North Korea in December, 2018. Noted experts from universities, research institutes, and civil society organizations joined NKDB to discuss the linkages between SDGs and human rights as well as SDG application strategies in the case of North Korea.
