On May 9th, NKDB's Director of International Cooperation, Hanna Song, appeared in an article by NK News discussing the topic of religion among North Korean escapees in South Korea, particular the disproportionate number of adherents to Christianity, as opposed to Buddhism or other religions.
Song explains, "A lot of people working at organizations that help North Koreans are Christians. Traditionally, there have been Christian missionaries on the North Korean border with China that help North Koreans defect."
