[Financial Times] North Korean women pay a heavy price as Kim turns on 'black market breadwinners'

On January 12, Director of International Cooperation, Hanna Song, appeared in an article in the Financial Times, providing insight into the role of women as breadwinners in North Korean society after the collapse of the Public Distribution System, and the increasing threat they face from the regime.

“The ability to make money by bringing in goods from abroad, and the ability to escape, were the two main pressure valves for many women living in North Korea, and now both of those are under threat.”
