On December 27, 2023, The Korea Times reported on NKDB’s establishment of an exhibition dedicated to North Korean Human Rights. The South Korean Ministry of Unification has pledged to construct an inaugural state-run North Korean human rights museum by 2027, seeking to allocate a budget of 26 billion won. However, the inter-Korean relations during the previous Moon administration resulted in a significant delay in this plan.
Following this delay, the Database Center for North Korean Human Rights (NKDB) established a North Korean Human Rights exhibition in November 2023, with support from the Ministry of Unification. In addition to supporting the efforts of activists, the South Korean government will be stepping up its efforts to use diplomacy as a tool for improvement in the North Korean human rights situation.
