On September 30th, NKDB's Director of International Cooperation, Hanna Song, was quoted in an article by NK News about a recently released North Korean propaganda video about the country's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Director Song's comments examined the aesthetics of the video, abnormal compared to typical North Korean propaganda materials.

She said, "The messy hairstyle and grungy makeup is interesting, especially in spite of Kim Jong Un’s order in 2021 to crack down on ‘words, acts, hairstyle, and attire of young people’ that the government considers unsavory, individualistic and anti-socialist."
