On April 7th, Director of International Cooperation, Hanna Song, appeared in an article on NK News regarding a recent report of religious persecution in North Korea, explaining the circumstances under which religious activity is punished.
“In cases in which North Koreans are persecuted for religious activity, they are generally punished for ‘anti-state, anti-national’ political crime, and the North Korean regime will often try to cover up the religious aspect, as it often leads to more questions from the North Korean people,” Song said.
